If you’re a fan of high end (as in VERY high end) dining, make sure to swing by the three Michelin starred restaurant Piazza Duomo during your trip to Barolo. Located in an alley just off the beautiful main town square in Alba, this restaurant is a monument to modern Piedmont cuisine. The food here is incredibly fresh, and chef Enrico Crippa’s unique take on vegetables (which he grows in a nearby farm) is incredibly unique. The food is served by extremely attentive and informative staff in a funky bright pink room. Tasting menus here (and you should definitely try a tasting menu!) go for about 260 euros, definitely a splurge but a good deal less than comparable three Michelin starred restaurants in the US. To top it all off, Piazza Duomo has even been named one of the world’s 50 best restaurants!
Be aware that Piazza Duomo seats a limited number of diners each night, and reservations must often be made up to a month or two in advance.
